3 Good Mood Food

When we are down, we are drawn to eat to lift our spirit. But we tend to draw to high-sugar or -fat food that we are not for us. Luckily, there are a few healthy and tasty alternatives that can do the trick without damaging your body.

Our first stop is fatty fish. Because they are rich in Omega-3s. Those are essential fatty acids, which means that our own human body can’t synthesize them but have to acquire from diet. Two different types Omega-3s, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), are correlated with lowering depression level. It is time to buy some salmon and albacore tuna!

Second food is dark chocolate, because it can trigger a cascade of many feel-food compound release: caffeine, theobromine, and a substance that is chemically similar to cannabinoids, N-acylethanolamine, that has been linked to improved mood. As long as you consume one or two small squares at a time, it can help with the mood without adding the waistline.

We now move on to bananas. This easily accessible tropical fruit can provide natural sugar, vitamin B6, and prebiotics that can keep blood sugar in a steady level, so we can become less irritable and prone to mood swing.

We can buy all those foods at a local market that can also help with our mood. They are quite ideal to improve overall wellbeing.
